Rowland brothers are an award-winning and long-established family firm, offering Exhumation Services nationwide since 1971. During this time, we have earned an enviable reputation and a loyal client base.
In 1971, Rowland Brothers carried out its first exhumation. We were appointed to exhume a French Countess from a London cemetery and repatriate her to France, where she was buried in the private chapel of her chateau. Since then, we have organised many exhumations to and from the UK and countries around the world.
We are very proud of our heritage and the service that we provide to both private and commercial clients. In response to a growing demand, we have developed a specialist exhumation division, which provides exhumations, re-interments, cremations and memorial services nationwide.
Exhumations are most often requested because families have relocated or because a burial has taken place in the wrong grave through financial or political considerations. Civil engineering projects or major developments may also have an impact on existing graveyards.
Rowland Brothers works closely with both religious and Government bodies in the UK and overseas. Liaison with the Environmental Health Officer and the Health and Safety Executive are important aspects of this work.
Rowland Brothers has built a global network of funeral directors who have an excellent reputation for providing a high quality, professional service to their local communities. Through our exhumation service, we have repatriated many loved ones to their homeland, helping to bring peace of mind and closure to their families.
Aware of the sensitive nature of our task, all RB staff are trained to handle Human Remains in the most considerate manner possible.
Health & Safety training is provided for all RB Exhumation team members by ‘Safety is the Key’ professional H&S experts headed by Shabbir Halai – DipNEBOSH, CMIOSH, OSHCR. Individual Risk Assessment and Method Statements are produced for each project using specialist software developed by Shabbir and his team. Each assessment is fully ‘iosh’ compliant.
